Autumn / Winter 2011 Preview 1: Reflection

I have been spending some time looking into the trends and forcasts for Autumn & Winter 2011, and I am going to post my own distilled versions. I am so happy to have the excuse to do this research again, so even if no one reads this, I am truly happy.

Here is the first of the looks: Reflection. Fall and winter are times for reflection to look into our past and remember our roots. It is hard to imagine now in the heat of summer, but before we know it, the season will progress, the nights begin to become shorter and progressively cooler. Even though the trend houses have predicted these trends for over two years now, the end looks are never fully edited until we can take into account the matters currently effecting us such as politics, global economy, and the cultural events around us.

We are in a time of great disturbance rebounding from a crashing economy, ongoing war, and the recent environmental crisis with the BP oil spill. Events such as these will cause the trends to move closer to home so we can appreciate what we have and cherish the connection to what we love and care about. This thought of reflection is like relaxing with your favorite comfort food. it is familiar, warm, and consistent.
