Alter Egos — An avi for work and one for play

The first thing I real­ized right away when using Sec­ond Life for both work and fun is that I had to cre­ate a sec­ond avatar for work pur­poses. I was hor­ri­fied when show­ing Sec­ond Life to a group of instruc­tors and a ran­dom friend of mine logged on an IM’ed a totally inap­pro­pri­ate com­ment try­ing to be funny. Well, it was funny… but the instruc­tors with me didn’t see the humor and so I cre­ated Mag­gie Mint– the avatar that gets to have no fun. (It even says that in the pro­file) I have also come to real­ize that cre­at­ing Mag­gie gives me peace and quiet while I am busy and keeps all of my cam­pus related finances sep­a­rate from any­thing that I would buy for per­sonal use.
