loading inventory items — iWish

What would “iWish” for in Second Life? Being an iPhone freak, I would love to see a more interactive menu for inventory items.  Could you imagine having a VISUAL menu to flip through for categories?  I am sure many out there are expressing the same longing to get away from files and folders.  I tend to rename inventory items, and when feeling extra organized, place them in folders and then subfolders in an attempt to tame the “beast.”  Alas, it always ends up being a mess, and how I think to name an item one day never corresponds with how I think to look it up three months in the future. iwish_final   The NMC, New Media Consortium, held the 2009 Symposium on New Media and Learning in March, and I had the opportunity to see John Fillwalk (SL: Mencius Watts) of Ball State University present “Bridging Virtual Worlds: Approached to Hybrid-Reality with Second Life.”  Check this out — at the “Flickr Gettr” in the NMC Aho Museum  you can enter a search term and your avatar is surrounded by a giant cube of changing imagery from Flickr.  Could you imagine if our SL inventories could be attached like this to be brought up at our beck and call??  I think this is an incredible discovery.   flickrgettr Taking it a step further, think of being an instructor with an in-world class and evoking a topic search in imagery right around the class?  Seeing the constant image changes could act like a brainstorm to tie together ideas and make connections that perhaps would never happen in the world of traditional searches.

Just because I LOVE SL fashion, I have to include the sources for the dresses above.
